Marking Remembrance Sunday

Traditional Remembrance services were held in most of our six churches. It was good to see how well attended they were and how so many of the community will give up their time to mark this important day. Next year it will be 100 years since the start of the first World War - already people around the country are planning ways to mark this - not with celebrations - but in some other way that will recognise the great sense of service that was displayed by so many. What will this Benefice come up with to mark the occasion?

The Rectory Dog House.

The Rectory has become 'The Dog House' for next three weeks. The Rectory dogs, Jed and Tess Collies are entertaining Angel Spanador and Lottie Labrador. Visitors may be aware of  the problems that the Rector already has getting to the front door, (thanks to over enthusiastic dogs,) and they should expect increased delays, as the problem has now doubled. Please be patient while all (canine) visitors are brought under control, the Rector will open the door eventually.

Whitechurch Treasurer stumbles on a bottomless pit?

This is the sort of find that any householder dreads. This is the scene at the Winterborne Whitechurch parish rooms at the moment. Fortunately the swift investigation by the treasurer and church warden, prevented any serious accidents. Apparently, without the lino covering, someone could have fallen through the floor, the boards were so rotten. Hopefully the cause of the rot can be identified and a swift ( not too expensive) solution found.
 In the meantime - please take care if you are using the Whitechurch Parish rooms.
